Nicholas Meyer

American writer, screenwriter, producer and film director. Born in NY, he got his degree in theatre and filmmaking from the University of Iowa in 1968, and soon afterwards he began a career as screenwriter for TV. In 1974 published the novel The Seven-per-cent Solution, which became a bestseller. Meyer’s screenplay for The Seven-per-cent Solution (1976), based on his own novel, was nominated for an Academy Award. His directing debut was Time After Time (1979). This was followed by Star Trek II – The Wrath of Khan (1982), and The Day After (1983), which remains the single most watched TV film ever made, nominated for fourteen Emmys. He continued directing films asVolunteers (1986), The Deceivers (1988), Company Business (1991), Star Trek VI, The Undiscovered Country (1992) and Vendetta (1999). He also wrote screenplays for films as Sommersby (1993), The Human Stain (2003) and Elegy (2008).
